The Pfaffenwinkel Milk Trail near Rottenbuch is a lovely little loop trail through meadows and pastures. Over the course of about 4 kilometers, the trail takes you past cows, beautiful views, and several informational stations about milk, agriculture, and cheese.

The Milky Way Rules. The electrical distribution box that looks like a piece of cheese. Caution: People with canes and long hair may be in this area or crossing the street. A magnificent view across meadows and pastures. A stop at the Schönegger Käse-Alm along the way.

The trail isn’t long, but it’s pleasantly varied and easy to manage, especially with children. The signs along the route make the walk entertaining without it feeling like a typical nature trail. We especially loved the open views across the pastures and the small, charming details along the way.

A definite highlight is the Schönegger Käse-Alm, located right along the trail. It’s a great place to stop and round out your outing with some cheese, a snack, or something sweet.
