The Loisach River near Schönmühl — a great spot for swimming on hot days in Penzberg

The Loisach River near Schönmühl is our favorite spot for swimming on particularly hot days. When the water everywhere else has already heated up, the river here usually stays pleasantly cool and clear. From downtown Penzberg, you can reach the spot by bike in about 10–15 minutes. Along a dirt path, there are several spots where you can spread out your towel right by the water and enjoy the cool water.

We often enter the water just before the railroad bridge and let ourselves drift downstream for about 100–150 meters to the signposted canoe exit. The water there is usually relatively shallow, and the current is pleasant. The SUP tour starting in Kochel also ends at the canoe exit.
