On this glorious March weekend, my family and I took advantage of the mild and sunny weather and went on a bike ride: from Penzberg to Museumscafé Reinthal. The route is around 11 to 12 kilometers long and leads along quiet side roads through the idyllic landscape of Upper Bavaria. It is also suitable for children and offers many opportunities for short breaks in nature.

Our tour started at the train station in Penzberg and led us first along the railroad tracks towards Iffeldorf and then on through the forest and over the highway towards Antdorf. We particularly enjoyed the variety of the route. Apart from a short section in Habach, the route is exclusively on side roads or country lanes with little traffic. There are several short climbs, but these are easy to master for experienced cyclists. There are several benches along the route that are perfect for a short break.

After about an hour and a half’s leisurely ride with a break, we reached our destination: the Museumscafé Reinthal between Habach and Obersöchering. At weekends and when the weather is nice, the café offers a large selection of homemade cakes, which are perfect as a reward after the bike tour. The café has a very relaxed atmosphere and is mainly frequented by cyclists. We particularly liked the outdoor seating on the street in front of the café.

We all had a lot of fun on this bike tour. It’s not too long, so even children can keep up, and offers a nice mix of exercise, nature and enjoyment. If you are looking for a relaxed tour with a rewarding destination, I can only recommend this route.
